How does IDPA differ from IPSC other than only allowing production pistols. And also, what is a “USPSA type speed reload.” How does the loading rule differ? Thanks, i am a lifetime target shooter and am very interested in pursuing Action shooting as a new hobby. I appreciate the info

Yes. You may shoot the match as long as your father is with you. Please review the New Shooter Info and watch the New Shooter Briefing video located under the IDPA menu at the top of this page. You will also need to have your father sign the waivers.

Jeff,
You will need the basic equipment, but there is no training required other than the new shooter briefing. We have just added a video of this briefing at the top of this page. The best thing to do is show up at one of our indoor matches if possible. At either our indoor or outdoor matches, you will find plenty of friendly people to help you get started.
